Waiter, there's a worm in the food!

I was on a dinner date with the parents and xiao mei. New Ayam Penyet Ria is opened in downtown last few weeks, and we were amused to know how the food will turn out at this newly launched eatery. I was once the loyal patron of Ayam Penyet Ria some times back when their 2 stores were still in business. They serve really tasty concoction of many javanese food. Although the menu is not too varied, but each portion of the food is cooked in such a way, which I just love. It was fully packed when we patronized the restaurant. I could say that the management was still a mess. Patrons standing at the cashier and complaining about the mistaken bill can tell the situation there.
Yet, the food was excellent. We all were squealed in contentment.

Ah ma didnt join us, so we packed her the dinner. One portion of plain rice with smashed chicken and the sambal was never forgotten.
All of a sudden, ah ma screamed in disgust when she opened the pack and saw a long moving worm squirming inside the package!!
I made an immediate call to the resto and no one pick up the phone after umpteen times of miscalls. Sigh.. Good food yet bad service.

Happy New Year, Peeps!

I chose to elaborate the New Year's Eve Party at Hermes Palace Hotel Medan with my two supposed to be good friend and some other newly known acquaintances.
It was so called the barbeque buffet party which was situated at the 9th floor of the hotel. I previously didnt have any urge to go exploring those NYE party outside the house as what I did it last year. Since the best buddies were not available to fully undergo the new year's eve in town together, I have no other better choices rather than experiencing the bbq buffet with those who were available.
The main roads were still passable at 9pm plus. Polices were being deployed to control the situation. We did have slight jam on the way to the venue.
Reached the venue at 9.40pm. The hotel's concierges were there to greet us a good evening. Hotel lobby was not packed with people.

This was taken at the 9th floor of the hotel. The exact venue, Sirocco Moonlight Bistro.
It was decorated nicely, the view was terrific. The staffs were very helpful. Frying pans were placed near the open air terrace. I shud say that the food spread was not much of variaties, but the color of the food may make it appealing.
The friend and I fully utilised our hands to grab the food and brought to the rooftop (tables in the bistro were all fully booked, thus we were evacuated to the rooftop's tables).
Rooftop was not bad at all, except we couldn't following the live thumping music. The weather was good and we might starring down the town from high up.

Good service, but the food was inedible!
The tom yam soup tasted fishy, I didn't even try on it. The chicken satay was rubbery and tasteless. The free flow beverage served was a plus point for thirsty patrons, but there were too much ice cubes in the Fanta's containers. And it made the Fanta bland.
So, I didnt find any spectacular things there except the happening fireworks cracked over the night sky.

Hang out at a German restaurant in town

It was my initial time dining in a German Restaurant in town.
Felt awesome with the al fresco dining table and the live music was echoing around us.
The friends were gladly offering themselves up on the stage to liven the atmosphere.
I found it dreadfully great before I discovered there were 6 miscalls and 2 text messages on my mobile. Poor me..

Here under are some food photos tat I managed to collect througout the gathering dinner.
Looks like I have misintepret the camera function. Well, blame the dim lighting. At least the photos turned out bright! LOL.. I scrutinized over the menu and cannot find the pork leg which I was recommended to try.
We were lead to place the order for their famous pork sausage for instead. Dont you find it HUGE??

An impromptu outing

Sunday will never flop me.
I have been sticking to the computer's screen for at least 9hrs or more per day in office, I get no remission albeit it is a Saturday. The energy is always drastically deflated by the edge of the week.

I fell for snuggling on my bed on every Sunday morning. The poor soul is hollering for a thorough rest. Never try your luck to hoot at me and ask me to join the morning walk or a swim, I wont heed you anyway. I love slumbering more than exercising the muscles! Haha..

Late in the afternoon, the friends were coming all the way to fetch me and they didn't point out any specific places, we were just ambling around aimlessly until one of the friends spit out her idea of getting to this newly started cafe. It is not detected in the heart of the city, but located on the brim of the city with no major roads around. We enjoyed a pleasant quiet tea time tat afternoon.

The ambience is cool enough that I think I'd go back anytime at the first few minutes. The whole design is vintage, naturally adapting a Javanese theme.

In my humble opinion, the food served was nothing to shout about but at least not awful either.

Luckily the beverages on which we hope to rely on for the first time was successfully won my expectation. It was a wonderful sexy orange (that was printed on the menu) quenched the thirst perfectly on that hot day!
But I cant tolerate the cat who came approach me asking for food. I was crouching my legs up to avoid direct contact with it's tail. Yikesss!!!

A date on saturday evening

Bakerzin is here in Medan since 2 months ago.
Since this is one of the new favourite nook for the city's dwellers, me and the buddies were intrigued to pay a visit there on last Saturday. I'm curious to discover if any of their dishes will become favourites. I have my eyes on their signature dishes..

I was regaled with the first order.
The chicken wings did a perfect match with garlic. Do take note tat this is my sole shot of food during the dinner.
So not me wat?? sigh..
I was in tantrum mode after taking this shot. The waiter gave me a mild reprimand tat the resto has the policy of prohibiting taking photos of the food. Ah well, I apologized for that.
Since the incident, the manager and the other two waiters were keeping their eyes on me.
Sh*t....!!! They shud have read my body languange tat their food is just not fancy at all! Me and the friends were wittingly played with my camera. I was waiting for them to come and tell me off that they also restrict people from taking pictures of HUMAN. Oh how nice if he really approach me and said so.
25K for a glass of ice lemon tea is totally a day time robbery!

A luscious dinner

Tis is end of the month, Fen has drawn a covenant with me tat she will buy me an opulent dinner once she got her first pay at her first working station. Yuhhuuu...!!! hahahaa..

Please note tat this is not an extortion, the agreement has been signed since long ago. We have the rule! *cagey grin*

The time is come! And she never break her promise to me.

A super expensive dinner at JW Marriott.

A spacious venue with high ceilings. Love the design of the cafe with luxurious style and big windows facing the courtyard.

Tis is only a part of the so many captures. Dun know wat the pretext was, I just can't make any good shot tis time. ><

Since their first acquaintanceship, it sounds as they have been good buddies for a long time! They click with each other. And they both share the same name. One said that she trusted tat Pisces and Scorpio would make a good match. Is it?

And u know, I was startled by them. I never know tat they have been clubbed together for the dinner. I thot tat the dinner will be onli me and Fen1. I was all in shock when discovered that they both were coming to fetch me. Wahlaooo...!!!

It was a buffet dinner with all sorts of cultural dishes. The food was not good but the service was excellent.

The first grab. A bit of lasagna, fish in cheesy sauce, a very thin pizza, and a kinda thick slice of turkey meat (I scare of the raw one).

A bowl of glass noodle and a bowl of noodle with self-picked ingredients.

We didnt munch on all the food there. We were too busy yakking. Missed the separate display fixtures such as the soup pot, the salad bar, the beverage fountain. However, we never forgo the dessert island.

The total bill count is IDR. 492K. For 3 pax ONLY. No wonder, 5 star hotel.

But I shud tell you that the food are not classified as good. Edible but not greatly palatable.

Lame dinner

It might be a legendary cafe in town. If I'm not incorrectly remembering, its existence has surpassed 8 or 9 years.
I ever been there thrice or more in 2003, but never bother to visit there after then.
Me and the friend have a super posh review about this cafe previously and the price of each menu is quite expensive. Somehow, we never have the intent to visit there all these while.

Last 2 weeks, I saw a friend hollered about the delicacies there on FB and I was intrigued to bring back those old memories. My longing for that has encumbered me for the whole week.
I BBM-ed the friend who patronize this place frequently, she assured me with confidence tat those she was referring to are pertinence choices.
Well, my mindset was totally focused tat day and we were heading to Traders Cafe.
The sunlight was still there when we reached. It helped much on the photo's quality :)
We placed our order based on the friend's recommendation.
It didnt take too long. The smoked salmon sandwiches were served in 15 minutes.
They are prominent in their signature Hang Seng Fried Rice. We ordered too.
Very much to our disappointment, the food are edible but not wonderful.
A big gap between the bucks paid and our expectation.
We are now have a new insight into this cafe.

Worthless dinner

When I'm craving for salmon on my dinner, Fen very readily offered a ride.
Inauspiciously, we altered our mind set when we were there. We stucked on the menu with variants on its pasta. The displayed photos evidently mesmerized and fascinated us.

Here is my beef spaghetti with black pepper sauce. I couldn't voice it out like how I wanted to. After some times of absence of eating good food, I shud say tat nothing beats the feeling of having salmon sashimi plus a luscious set box like wat I had last week (no photos taken on tat due to the depleted battery). I rushed the waiter to serve another plate of additional chili sauce in order not to let the taste degenerate into the worst. Put tons of chili sauce helped to improve a lil bit.

Tis was too creamy on my tongue. I can onli tolerate 3 to 4 mouthfuls of it before I will sick of the aftertaste for the whole night. Fen was incredulously finished the whole plate in about 20 minutes.
We settled the bill after a while, the waiter should bring back the sweet corn soup to the chef as I onli managed to sip a mouthful of it. And I want him to tell the manager about this.

Was exploring the new restaurant last Saturday with the clique.

Offering a quaint ambience, this Trattoria restaurant is quite popular with their Italian food spread. They serve zillion numbers of pastas and pizzas.

A typical Italian restaurant. Once seated, we were presented with the complimentary appetizers.

-Oven baked toasted garlic bread with fresh sliced tomatoes-

I placed my order for Trattoria juice and the friend was more tend to the mixed juice.

I cant name out tis pizza's name for you. A long winded name! haha.

Bacon, fresh sliced tomatoes and mozarella cheese adhering to the crispy pizza.

-Ravioli-

First time chewing on it, but generally don't have the "oomph" that I will crave for my impending visit. It tastes a bit odd.

-Lasagna-

I used to heart tis kind of sustenance. For this, after several mouthfuls I felt jelak.

-Spaghetti aglio olio with mushroom-

Special ordered by the fren. They found no better notion to slurp the foods ordered by the other friends.

Honestly, they are not my fancy. The bill also killing!

Still cant classify as 'yummy'

I have my grandma hollered at me as I stepped over the doorsill just now. Telling me that mom has prepared fruit platters for me in the fridge.
This is one of them. I understand they are edible, this time is my second time trying on them (their countless time). It virtually altered my judgment towards it, my mom doesnt need to woo me. Even so, I wont opt for it as my fave dessert.

Green tea cake is not to my liking

When it comes to the colleague's bday, there always the hopping stone whets our appetite for different varieties of cakes.
Not repelling the new comers on our list for this quarter, we go for Green Tea Cake tis time!

Out of my belief tat I've ditched it from my list.
We claimed it nerdy!

Not a befit gift

A friend I knew from my other friend has came back from her honeymoon trip in Bali.
She gave me ring and said that she towed along a gift for me. Far flung from Bali. That's so sweet of her indeed!

I begat her gift to my other colleague who is mad about it.
..Not to disdain her giving, I utterly not a coffee addict, but I do drink occasionally, ermm.. I think big gap between the fact and the term "occasionally". For those who are coffee lover, and going to plonk yorself on a trip to Bali, drop yor presence there and grab some home.
Dun ask me about the quality, I know zilch.
