Tjong A Fie
The legendary Chinese Major

The Mansion
The mansion of the late Major Tjong A Fie in Kesawan was built in around 1890 on the land of 6,000 m2. It is a two storey building with 40 bedrooms.
The architecture motive of ancient Chinese, European and Malay became the characterictic of Tjong A Fie's philosophy.

Went on an hour guided city tour at Tjong A Fie's mansion on Sunday noon.
It is opened publicly since week ago. Me and the buddies decided to take a look look see see there.
We need to pay for the entrance fee, said that the fund will be raised for the refurbishment and revamping of the mansion. IDR. 35K for less than an hour detour in the mansion, pricey eh?
The throngs invading the building incessantly. Amidst the commotion, we tried to enjoy our perspiring torso. Yucks! Damn the dry heat weather!!

Taking a snap in front of the main entrance door.

We stumbled upon our ex colleague. After many years.
He is him on the late 1920's.
His wife.
As the result of the detour, I shared some snaps of a 119 years old posh mansion..
The master bed room.
Imagine! In the past 119 yrs billionaire's bed.
The dining room. A full set of old cutlery.
Wondering who plays the piano?
The praying altar.
This tremendous archive of hundred-year-old photos has much to hone our imagination to the the extent of old decades.
I asked for a young lady's assistance for this group picture.
The mansion is restricted and taboo to be discussed openly since long ago. They deem that the mansion is spooky and some persons even spotted apparition. Whoa!!
